Top-Level Extensions

Top-Level Domains: Definition and Availability

A top-level domain is the section of the domain name located to the right of the dot ("."). The most commonly used top-level domains (TLDs) are: .COM, .NET, and .ORG. Other popular top-level domains include: .BIZ, .INFO, .NAME, .US, .WS,
and .MOBI. All of these extensions are currently on our menu.

In addition, we are pleased to announce the availability of .TV — perfect for any type of video or multimedia web site. With a .TV domain name, people automatically know that your site is full of compelling, entertaining content.

If you wish to further expand your broadcasting presence on the Internet, the .FM extension is another great way to stand out.

Most top-level domain extensions are available worldwide. However, top-level extensions of geographic importance, called country-code TLDs, are generally available to registrants with a mailing address in the locale defined by the TLD.

We offer the following ccTLDs: .AT (Austria), .BE (Belgium), .CC (Cocos Islands), .CN (China), .DE (Germany), .EU (European Community), .JP (Japan), .NZ (New Zealand), .TW (Taiwan), .UK (United Kingdom), and .US (United States).

When you are ready to grab your domain, consider registering TLD variations of your primary domain in order to protect your brand or web site. You also have the option of forwarding domain variations to your primary domain at no additional charge.

F.Y.I. Located just to the left of the dot (" . ") is the second-level domain — the "readable" part of the domain name. The second-level domain is completely defined by the registrant, and often refers to the organization or entity associated with the IP address. For example, "nbc" would be the second-level domain of www.nbc.com.
